Why are your models manufactured in the Philippines?

Our factory is located in the Philippines where we have some of the best artists and craftsmen in the local model airplane industry. The manufacture of airplane models made from local solid, kiln dried Mahogany wood started in the area just after the Second World War. Not only were the local Filipinos accomplished artisans but the model business also gave much needed employment to the impoverished area of Pampanga province where it flourished due to the United States largest foreign military bases being located on Luzon island in the central Philippines. There were two bases namely Clark Air Field and Subic Bay or Cubi Point until both were closed in 1991 and 1992 respectively. Large numbers of US servicemen were either based in the Philippines or transited their way through the bases and as a consequence they began to purchase the model airplanes as gifts or reminders of their time in the forces. As a result a huge “cottage” industry was born and still thrives until today. Our company employs approximately 50 people and we have been in business for the last 20 years. Whilst not the largest model manufacturer in the area we class ourselves as one of the most focused, dedicated and niche suppliers offering a high degree of flexibility and second to none when it comes to Quality Assurance procedures.
